The Bureau of Emergency Medical Services is a part of the Utah Department of Health. The bureau registers the sellers of automated external defibrillators and conducts courses in pediatric education, advanced life support and respiratory emergencies. It also publishes training manuals and course materials. The Bureau of Emergency Medical Services conducts a critical incident stress management program that provides crisis intervention services during and after critical incidents in order to minimize stress-related injuries to emergency personnel. It additionally assists prehospital agencies and software vendors to transit from Utah's AIS data system to Polaris and other NEMSIS-compliant systems. The Bureau of Emergency Medical Services is located in Salt Lake City.
