HistoryA Curb Appeal, LLC was started as a way to help customers enhance their home's curb appeal. We soon discovered that using a modular, soft-washing system, we could easily modify our solute concentrations, allowing us ease in transitioning to treat almost any surface with minimal waste, efficiently completing jobs for customers in a single afternoon that might otherwise last days, and saving customers potentially tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars on the replacement of their roof just by performing proper maintenance. Fun fact; if you've ever noticed that directly downstream of galvanized roof vents there's a lighter color strip on the roof itself, it's actually because zinc oxide (an ingredient in baby ointment and deodorant) is being created and is washing off the metal as it rains, killing the bacteria it comes into contact with... making that obtuse area you see the cleanest part of the entire roof.SpecialtiesWe are primarily a soft-washing company focusing on bacteria, algae, and fungi removal from roofs and other exterior surfaces. (We also pressure-wash but only flatwork as necessary to lift out petroleum-based stains.) Gloeocapsa magma is an ancient species of cyanobacterium that thrives by consuming the limestone filler found in concrete, brick work, asphalt shingles, and so many other manufacturing materials - it even grows on clay-tile roofs. Once it takes hold it creates a protective coating to prevent UV light from damaging it - the darker color in turn attracts more heat to the roof and through a mechanism knows as non-photochemical quenching radiates that excess heat into the structure, increasing strain on HVAC systems in the summer. Furthermore, as a byproduct of photosynthesis, gloeocapsa magma releases nitrates, attracting a much wider variety of biological culprits, and once fungi and the bacterium form a symbiotic relationship and become lichens then water retention becomes a much bigger problem and the roof (or other materials) lifespan is severely shortened.
