Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is engaged in the conservation of native wildflowers, plants and landscapes. Established in 1982, the center organizes nature nights, exhibitions and gardening festivals. Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center operates Theme Gardens, which features more than 20 beds that feature several uses and adaptations of plants. The center s gardens also demonstrate the techniques of attracting butterflies and hummingbirds. Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is an organized research unit of the University of Texas at Austin. The center also maintains Little House Courtyard, which helps children between the ages of 2 and 6 learn about the shapes, smells, colors and textures of plants. The center
