History
In the typical Indian merchant class proclivity for cornerstores, Amrit & Chandan Topiwala purchased the longstanding Whip In Convenience Store in 1986. With gas pumps and b-rated movie rentals behind the counter, the family vended to the heart's content of the Travis Heights neighborhood. When beer sales overtook gas sales, the pumps were pulled in favor of the better renewable resource of sudsiness. The family expanded the beer selection enough to become a mecca of interest throughout Texas and beyond. The cornerstore has recently evolved into its current dhaba pub orientation after adding on a full kitchen, draft beers and a brew house to make our own ales. Dhaba is a Punjabi name given to roadside restaurants in India & Pakistan. Situated on highways and generally serving local cuisine, dhaba are most commonly found next to petrol stations and most are open 24 hours a day.
