Founded in 1957, Texas Water Development Board provides leadership, planning, financial assistance, information and education for conservation of water in Texas. It provides loans to local governments for water supply projects, water quality projects, including wastewater treatments, municipal solid waste management/non-point source pollution control, flood control projects, agricultural water conservation projects and groundwater district creation expenses. Texas Water Development Board provides grants and loans for the water and wastewater needs of the state's economically distressed areas, agricultural water conservation funding, and water-related research and planning grants. The board offers technical assistance for problems, including lake volumetric surveys, sewer system smoke testing, treatment facility operator assistance, water audit and leak detection. It received the Texas Water Conservation Association (TWCA) President s Award in 2010.
