Texas Watch is a non-partisan, advocacy organization working to improve consumer and insurance protections for Texas families. Texas Watch's thousands of activists across the state make their voices heard to preserve their rights and protections. Texas Watch strives to provide a counter to wealthy special interest lobby efforts and ensure Texas laws reflect the true needs of Texas families and consumers. Founded by Dan Lambe in 1998, Texas Watch has helped provide a platform for Texas consumers on insurance, nursing home resident protection, patient protection and consumer law issues in legislative and regulatory activities. Texas Watch members have provided testimony to legislative committees, participated in consumer legislative lobby days, testified in regulatory rule-making activities and spoken with media about consumer protection issues. Texas Watch Staff N. Alex Winslow As Texas Watch's Executive Director, N. Alex Winslow oversees all legislative, political, administrative, and research operations for the organization. Alex directs issue strategy and leads program development. As Texas Watch's primary media spokesperson, Alex has been quoted in every major and medium-sized newspaper in Texas. He has also appeared in numerous national publications including The New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Consumer Reports, and The Wall Street Journal. Additionally, Texas Watch research has been cited in influential news outlets including BusinessWeek, Texas Monthly, and USA Today. Alex has also made numerous television appearances as an expert on insurance and civil justice matters and is a frequent guest on talk radio. Alex has been named one of Texas's Top 10 Lobbyists for Causes by the influential political newsletter Capitol Inside, and he has served as a consumer liaison to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners ( 2006-2007 ). Alex served as Texas Watch Program Director before being named Executive Director, and has a strong working knowledge of the important issues effecting Texas families. Prior to coming to Texas Watch in 2004, Alex served five years as the Chief of Staff for State Representative Barry B. Telford. He has also worked on numerous political campaigns, as well as for several members of the Texas House. Alex's broad experience in the legislative and political arenas has given him a unique knowledge and understanding of public policy-making. As the Director of Development and Programs, Dennis's primary responsibility is the development and implementation of all fundraising activities for Texas Watch and the Texas Watch Foundation. Additionally, he oversees project development and programmatic operations, and he assists on issue strategy and legislative advocacy. Dennis served as the lead fundraiser for Texas Partnership and the Texas House Democratic Campaign Committee before starting at Texas Watch, and has a strong understanding of financial management. Dennis has served as Legislative Director or Chief of Staff for numerous members of Texas State Senate and House. He has also worked on numerous political campaigns. Dennis brings a wealth of experience in the legislative and political arenas that give him a unique working knowledge of politics, policy and fundraising. As Director of Policy and Research, Pam is responsible for overseeing and implementing a comprehensive legislative agenda focused on insurance and consumer law reforms that protect Texas families. Additionally, she conducts major research projects on various consumer-related topics. Pam worked as the Court Watch fellow at Texas Watch before moving into the role of Director of Policy and Research, and brings a strong knowledge of legal issues that affect working Texans.
