The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, also known as TPWD, offers a variety of recreational activities, such as hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, biking and bird watching. It takes initiatives to conserve fish and wildlife species and habitat, as well as cultural and historic sites throughout Texas. The department operates through several program divisions, including fishery, law enforcement, state parks and wildlife. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department s coastal fisheries division manages the marine fishery resources and leads the agency research, management and inter-agency coordination on various water-related issues. It also maintains several administrative divisions that include communications, human resources and information technology. In addition, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department operates an infrastructure division that provides project management, professional planning, design, construction and technical services to its divisions.
