History
Founded by Doreen Wise, a local Houston businesswomen, after the four-month disappearance and tragic loss of her son, Gabriel Lester, Texas Center for the Missing is a 501(c)(3) organization that is driven to help keep children safe. Since its founding, the Center has provided direct services to more than 120,000 people. In addition to prevention and safety programs, the Center has trained 3,500 law enforcement officers and provided assistance in more than 500 missing person cases.
Specialties
Texas Center for the Missing is a local Houston nonprofit and the Amber Alert provider for the Houston-Galveston Region, that offers prevention, education, and reunification services related to child abductions, runaways, and internet lures. Through community support we are able to provide educational programs to children and their families, train law enforcement on Amber Alert usage, and provide 24/7 service to the families who are searching for their loved ones.
