History
Sweet Briar Child Development Center (formerly known as Little Dudes LC) opened in 1961 when Mrs. Ellen Smith recognized the need for childcare in South Austin. The Sandra Campus was the first childcare center to open south of the river in Austin, and is now proud to be the longest-running childcare center in South Austin. An additional center opened on Maufrais Lane in 1980, and relocated just up the street to the childcare facility at the Woodway Village Apartments in Southeast Austin in 2013 to create the Woodway Village Campus. Providing high quality early childhood education has always been our top priority. Our Childcare Centers have been recognized as Texas Rising Star Four-Star Centers, a statewide quality certification program. We also participate in the Texas School Ready! program, a Pre-K school readiness certification developed by the University of Texas. We are proud of our long history as a quality certified learning center in South Austin.
