History
The Swann was built in 1901 as the private home of a prominent businessman - A.L.Dunkin. The Widow Swann ( 6 daughters) bought the home in 1914 and opened a hotel with a dining room. The Swann was famed for it good food with folks driving up from Houston and Beaumont for Sunday lunch. Later the home passed from the Swann family to the Hancock family who operated a boarding house. The historic building was ready for a wrecking ball when The Henegar family bought it and started the renovations in 1998. The Silmon family bought the hotel in 2000 and continued with more renovations and landscaping. The Swann Hotel B&B is a pleasant surprise in a land of cookie cutter motels. We are on the scenic route from Austin to New Orleans. Take the back roads and stay with us.
