In 1930, Roy Gilbert Sr. started Gilbert Truck Line in Cotulla, Texas, with one used truck that served from San Antonio to Cotulla. Gilbert purchased Southwestern Motor Transport and merged the two companies in 1950. The merger brought the company s fleet to more than 100 units. Southwestern Motor Transport has grown to serve the eastern half of the United States in truckload and less than truckload. It also performs through service between Mexico, Canada and the United States. The company s warehousing, consolidation and distribution services are offered at several terminals. Southwestern Motor Transport is headquartered in San Antonio.
