South Coast Terminals, located in the Houston, Texas area, was established in 1964 to fill a need for quality terminal and warehouse facilities, packaging and custom blending and processing services. Amoco Oil was one of the first of many major oil companies to sign an exclusive toll blending and distribution agreement with South Coast Terminals. Amoco was soon followed by Gulf and the company began its expansion. In addition to meeting the growing demand for high quality automotive and industrial lubricants domestically, South Coast developed two product lines of automotive and industrial lubricants to serve offshore markets. The Olympic and Silver Star product lines are still active throughout Central and South America. South Coast was instrumental in the introduction of blended synthetic oils into the industrial and consumer markets. As the lubricant business continued to grow, South Coast continued to expand through the acquisition of a deep-water facility located on the Houston Ship Channel. South Coast Terminals currently operates three production facilities and a general sales office in Houston.
