Pcca
More than 25 years ago, a physician challenged a Houston-area pharmacist to compound an anti-nausea medication that was no longer available. The pharmacist consulted with his peers, procured the necessary chemicals and the prescription was a success. The pharmacist realized that others in his field faced similar demands to meet the needs of patients requiring compounded medications. A network of pharmacists was organized and soon formed PCCA (Professional Compounding Centers of America) in 1981. PCCA s membership has since grown to more than 3,500 independent pharmacists in the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe and New Zealand. It acts as a resource for pharmacists seeking chemicals, equipment, pharmacy software, marketing and business and pharmacy consulting assistance. Endorsed by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, the company also offers training and education in Asceptic Compounding at its in-house laboratories.
