Public dances started in 1983, but the North Texas Traditional Dance Society was not chartered until 1986.

Looking for something fun to do on a Saturday night? Want to dance to live music in a family-friendly non-alcoholic environment? Try our Contra and/or English Country dances. We are a non-profit organization that holds dances open to the public on Saturday nights. Contra Dancing (a form of American folk dancing, like the Virginia Reel) on 1st and 3rd Sat, English Country (like in Pride and Prejudice) on 4th Sat. No experience needed, no partner needed. All ages, including children. Casual dress. All of our dances are at the First United Lutheran Church in Dallas, 7:30 - 10:30 pm, in the building behind he main sanctuary.
