National Electric Coil, located in Brownsville, Texas, is a stator coil manufacturing facility for a company that has its corporate headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. NEC is an electrical remanufacturing organization founded in 1917 under the name of National Armature and Electric Works. In 1934, the organization changed its name to National Electric Coil Company and began to focus on filling a niche in the emerging power engineering industry. The company s coils include conventionally cooled coils, bar and diamond coils, inner water-cooled bars, gas-cooled bars, as well as unusual coil designs, such as a push through winding. NEC has specialized engineering expertise in machine redesigns, retrofits, failure analysis, trouble-shooting and testing. The company also provides aftermarket services for power generation, hydro and fossil and large industrial electrical equipment.
