Our Montessori program begins in our Older Infant class beginning at 12 months of age and continues through Kindergarden. We encourage parent involvement and want you to be knowledgeable about our program. Here is a little insight into our program. Practical Life The activities found in this area of the classroom provide the children with real life experiences. The children practice such activities as pouring, carrying trays, buttoning, zipping, and tying. These activities teach our children independence and responsibility while letting them build their coordination, concentration and motor skills. Sensorial The child explores dimension, shapes, color, texture, weight, aroma, taste, pitch, and their relationships through a series of exercises called the sensorial materials. These materials are with a built in feedback to control of error to show when mistakes have been made. A sense of order is found in these materials and the child acquires the joy of learning that their environment also has order. Language vocabulary is enriched in numerous ways. Precise names are used for all of the objects and apparatus. Vocabulary classification and matching exercises develop visual perception Math The Montessori mathematical materials isolate each concept and introduce it to the child in a concrete form using manipulative equipment.
