Maintenance And Recovery Services Inc ( MARS ) is a private narcotic treatment program accredited by CARF The Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission. MARS operates within a harm reduction model to ensure a positive therapeutic relationship with the patient. MARS offers counseling, education and resources that encourage healthy choices. The theoretical approach of harm reduction allows the patient to feel supported, at whatever level of functioning they may be, without fear of judgment and/or punitive practices that are sometimes found in other treatment programs. MARS offers individual, couples, group, and family counseling by highly qualified and trained counselors and therapists. Employed to help meet the psycho social needs of the patients are Licensed Professional Counselors ( LPC's ), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors ( LCDC's ), Licensed Master Social Workers ( LMSW's ) and interns. Counseling is offered during business hours, Monday through Friday. Family and significant others are encouraged to participate throughout the treatment process. Some groups offered to patients include: MARS MMT ( methadone maintenance treatment ) orientation Methadone Anonymous Auricular Acupuncture Groups Comprehensive medical care is also an important component in the treatment process. Upon intake the patient's vitals are taken and a physical is completed by the physician before he admits the patient to treatment. Later, results of a complete blood panel and TB test are added. If/when necessary, the appropriate follow-up care is implemented. On-going medical assessments occur as needed. The patient is closely monitored during the stabilization phase until he/she is on an adequate dose of methadone, the goal being freedom from physical withdrawal and cravings. Besides the MARS Medical Director, other qualified medical personnel include Registered Nurses ( RN's ) and Licensed Vocational Nurses ( LVN's ). Other medical services offered include: The physician is available by appointment to address any addiction related issues and/or other medical concerns. MARS' commitment to improving the quality of methadone treatment available to patients includes attempts to reduce stigma and to promote patient advocacy. Two priorities are networking with, and educating, the community and supporting an autonomous Patient Advocacy Group ( PAG ). MARS treatment staff consistently offers patient centered care.
