Manuel M. Garcia, MD, FACC is Board Certified in Cardiology and practices with South Texas Cardiology Specialists in San Antonio. Dr. Garcia was influenced to pursue cardiology by a medical school professor and by his father, Dr. Allen Garcia, a prominent and beloved San Antonio physician who practiced internal medicine and cardiology. Early in his career, Dr. Garcia was drawn to cardiovascular procedures and interventions and the gratification derived from helping someone in acute cardiac distress. Since then, Dr. Garcia has developed a special interest in the care of patients with congestive heart failure and the advancements made both in medications and in the management of this condition. Dr. Garcia graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. He pursued a degree in medicine from Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock, Texas and completed both his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in Cardiology at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Lubbock. Dr. Garcia joined Central Cardiovascular Institute of San Antonio in 1995 and served as Chief Operating Officer and Director of their Congestive Heart Failure Clinic. In 2010, the practice became South Texas Cardiology Institute where Dr. Garcia also serves as Medical Director. Since 1996, Dr. Garcia has held various appointments at Southwest General Hospital, with Baptist Health System and with Methodist Healthcare. He was also the Medical Director of the Heart Center of Central San Antonio from 2002 to 2010. Most recently, Dr. Garcia served as Vice Chairman of the Quality Improvement Committee for Methodist Healthcare System from 2014 to 2016 and as Chairman from 2016 to 2017. He currently serves as Chief of Staff Elect at Methodist Texsan Hospital and will serve as Vice Chair for Medical Staff at Methodist Healthcare from 2019 to 2021. Dr. Espinoza practices at Heart Plaza One, and also sees patients at both Methodist Hospital | Texsan and Methodist Hospital | Metropolitan.
