Luby s Cafeteria operates 131 restaurants throughout Texas, including Houston. Headquartered in Houston, Luby s employs more than 7,400 people. The restaurant chain s menu items include its more traditional platters, such as fried fish, Angus chopped steak, baked almandine, fried chicken, catfish and shrimp. Luby s also has introduced new entrees, such as lemon basil salmon, sweet sesame pork and spicy Monterey chicken. The restaurant has a birthday club for kids and nutritional information available online. Most locations have a gift shop. The first Luby s Cafeteria opened in 1947.
