The Katy Fire Department provides fire suppression and protection and emergency rescue services. Established in 1947, the department maintains trailers, water tanks, hoses, nozzles, ropes and gas masks. It has more than 40 trained and volunteer firefighters. The Katy Fire Department conducts cardiopulmonary resuscitation training, smoke detection and blood pressure screening programs. It also operates a vehicle extrication school in partnership with the Texas Engineering Extension Agency. The department additionally maintains a remote control ambulance that is equipped with a siren and tape players and emergency lights. The Katy Fire Department also sponsors and participates in several civic and community projects and is located in Katy, Texas.
