Huston-Tillotson University, located in Austin, is a coeducational college of liberal arts and sciences. It operates jointly with the support of the American Missionary Association of the United Church of Christ and the Board of Education of The United Methodist Church. The university was founded in 1952 by the merger of Samuel Huston College and Tillotson College, and was formerly known as the Huston-Tillotson College. Huston-Tillotson University awards undergraduates, four-year degrees in business, education, humanities, natural and social sciences, and science and technology. It is a multicultural, multiethnic and multifaith institution, and enrolls students of various racial and religious backgrounds.
