The Houston Astros Baseball Club is Major League Baseball s Houston-based franchise. The organization was established in 1960 as the Houston Colt .45s. It began play in 1962 and was renamed the Astros in 1965. The team has produced 21 winning seasons and one divisional championship in its history. It has also inducted six players Nelly Fox, Eddie Matthews, Joe Morgan, Robin Roberts, Nolan Ryan and Don Sutton and one manager Leo Durocher into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The Astros have played in three venues: Colt Stadium, from 1962 to 1964; Houston Astrodome, from 1965 to 1999; and Minute Maid Park, a 41,000-capacity stadium which has been the team s home since 2000.
