Founded in 1980, Homeward Bound is one of the largest not-for-profit substance abuse and mental health treatment agencies in Texas. Homeward Bound is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors which includes attorneys, business leaders, a judge, and community volunteers dedicated to improving our community and the lives of those we serve. Homeward Bound's programs serve over 6, 000 individuals and their families per year. Homeward Bound's main facility is a 120 bed residential treatment facility located at 233 W. 10th Street near downtown Dallas. Outpatient treatment and administrative offices are located at 315 Sunset Avenue across Madison Street from our main facility. Both facilities are easily accessible from I-35 and I-30 and are on several DART bus lines. All programs are licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and serve men and women from Dallas and the surrounding north Texas area. Staff psychiatrists, nurses, and a licensed addictionologist provide medically supervised crisis stabilization and detoxification services and care for our residential clients. Licensed counselors provide intensive residential treatment on a 24 hour a day - 7 day a week basis. Outpatient treatment sessions are available Tuesday - Saturday in morning, afternoon and evening and include individual and group counseling, education about the disease of addiction, and training in the life skills needed for a productive life. Our programs are multi-cultural and target the chemically dependent and mentally ill adult. Intake assessments are conducted at 233 W. 10th Street on a first-come-first-served basis from 8: 00AM -11: 00AM Monday through Friday, no appointment necessary. Homeward Bound accepts private insurance, Value Options, and has funding to cover care for those who do not have insurance or the ability to pay.
