Fort Worth Botanic Garden's iconic Japanese Garden consists of 7.5 acres filled with a combination of Japanese and native plants, including cherry trees, Japanese maples, magnolias, bamboo, bridges, ponds filled with koi fish, and much more. Recently, it was named the "most peaceful place in Texas" by Earth.fm. Predominantly an Edo Period stroll garden, the garden is based on the Japanese historical period between 1600-1868. It was designed by Kingsley Wu, and the Fort Worth Parks and Community Services Department personnel and opened in the spring of 1973. This serene urban oasis is considered a community treasure and provides relaxation and harmony, for thousands of visitors each year.
