Austin Waldorf School
Established in 1980, Austin Waldorf School, located in Austin, Texas, serves over 370 students from grades kindergarten through 12, and is a fully accredited member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America and Independent School Association of the Southwest. The school s kindergarten students are introduced to mathematics with counting games, rhymes, finger plays, jumping rope, setting the table, and measuring ingredients for baking bread. The curriculum also includes science studies, including nature walks, gardening, circle themes, water play and direct experience and observation of plants, insects and animals, artistic activities, and movement activities. The school s elementary curriculum includes comprehensive language arts, math, science, social studies, German, Spanish, vocal and instrumental music, speech and drama, eurhythmy, painting, drawing, modeling, handwork, woodwork, and physical education. The high school curriculum includes humanities, math, physical, life and computer sciences, foreign languages and arts, physical education and athletics, community service, work experience, electives and senior projects, and various cocurricular activities.
