Dismas Charities, founded in 1964 by Catholic priest Father William Diersen, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to healing the human spirit and restoring lives, families, and communities. With a mission to provide men and women reentering society from incarceration with the necessary skills and support, Dismas Charities aims to end the cycle of victimization through its programs and services.
Starting as Dismas House with just fifteen men, the organization has grown over the past 50 years to have centers of service nationwide, known as Diersen Charities in New Mexico and Tennessee. Guided by values of accountability, dignity, diversity, and respect, Dismas Charities continues to uphold Father Diersen's vision of helping individuals reintegrate into society as contributing members.
