During this experience, Dr. Lathia worked with a team of mathematicians, chemists, chemical engineers, and critical care medicine attendings who were trying to make a control formula for a filtration device that removes harmful inflammatory markers during sepsis.He then continued his medical training, completing his internal medicine residency at Louisiana State University in Lafayette, Louisiana. He went on to do his fellowship training in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at Louisiana State University in New Orleans.Throughout his fellowship training, Dr. Lathia continued to participate in research studies and has published or presented many of these studies to his peers.Dr. Lathia is committed to the well-being of the community he serves. He was a team leader during the devastating earthquake in Gujarat, India, in 2003 and volunteered at the Heymann Shelter Home in Lafayette during Hurricane Gustav in 2008. Dr. Lathia also volunteered at the Lafayette Parish Community Clinic in Lafayette during his internal medicine residency.Dr. Lathia holds medical licenses for several states, including Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.
