History
Dawn Mountain came into being on June 27, 1996 under the directorship of Anne Klein and Harvey Aronson. Anne Klein, PhD, is professor and former chair of religious studies at Rice University and founding co-director of Dawn Mountain Tibetan Temple, named by the Houston Press in 2006 as the best guided meditation in Houston. A distinguished Buddhist scholar, she has studied in the United States, India, Tibet, and Nepal and has written numerous works on Buddhism, including co-authoring Unbounded Wholeness; Bon, Dzogchen, and the Logic of the Nonconceptual.

Our mission is to nurture the spiritual growth of our diverse community as a living bridge between traditional Tibetan Buddhist teachings and curious people everywhere. We strive: -to inspire all seekers to develop skills for living, including mindfulness and compassion. -to instruct new and advanced students in the contemplative, artistic and healing practices of Tibetan Buddhism in collaboration with Western and Asian teachers. -to support living Buddhist culture in Asia.
