History
John Howell founded Cordovan Art School in 2009 after too many friends and neighbors had been asking to take private art classes. Needing more studio space, Cordovan Art School was born! Shortly thereafter, John and other local artists teamed up with the Round Rock Arts Council to bring the Chalk Walk festival, which brings in 45,000+ people each year. John Howell studied Illustration at Brigham Young University, and then studied more about anatomy/ figure drawing at the Watts Atelier of the Arts in Southern California. Today, artists of all ages find joy in taking art classes & camps at Cordovan Art School. Most artists come to relax, learn, and get creative with friends. During summer, the creativity gets kicked up a notch with our award-winning art camps! The Pottery Parlor was added in 2017, giving family and friends another reason to hang out, and be creative together.
