Established in 1981, Connections is a private, nonprofit organization that offers a range of support services for homeless, abused and at-risk youths, families and the communities in which they live. It provides various counseling, residential, community education and referral services for the residents of Atascosa, Bastrop, Bee, Caldwell, Comal, Frio, Goliad, Gonzales, Lee, Live Oak and McMullen counties in Texas. The organization administers emergency shelter, transitional living and outpatient programs. Connections' transitional living program features employment, educational and independent living skills assistance for youths. It conducts the STAR Program, which includes prevention services in the areas of truancy, delinquency and family conflicts. The organization also offers assessment and individual and group counseling services through its emergency shelter program. Connections is funded by the United Way, Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, and Department of Health and Human Services. It is located in New Braunfels, Texas.
