After graduating from Baylor College of Dentistry and passing the licensing exams of the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners, Dr. Thompson moved to Coleman with his wife, Patsy, in 1979 where he began his dental career as an associate of Dr. A.O. Brink. He acquired the practice of Dr. Brink in 1981 and has practiced at this same location since then. He and Patsy have three children who all have graduated from college and are pursuing their own careers. Dr. Thompson has been a member of the 17th District Dental Society (Abilene, TX), the Texas Dental Association and the American Dental Association for over 38 years and a member of the Academy of General Dentistry for over 32 years. He was president of the 17th District Dental Society from 1990-1991. As a member of the Academy of General Dentistry he achieved his Fellowship in 1992 and became a Master in 2009. Becoming an AGD Master requires passing a rigorous all day exam at the Fellowship level and completing over 1100 hours of continuing education in all the various disciplines of dentistry. There are only about 2,591 active AGD Masters throughout the U.S. and Canada. Active in the community, Dr. Thompson is a member of the Coleman Development Corporation, a member of the Coleman Kiwanis Club, and an active deacon at his church.
