HistoryThe Rise School of Austin is one of seven Rise Schools in the country which offer a nationally recognized early childhood program for children with disabilities. Modeled after the first Rise School founded by Coach Gene Stallings at The University of Alabama in 1974, the Rise School of Austin was founded by an Austin family with twin girls, one of whom was diagnosed with Down Syndrome. With an extensive background in special education, the family discovered that Austin did not have any preschool programs that provided full-time educational and therapeutic services to infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children with developmental disabilities, and wanted the best possible education for their daughters. Their search took them to The Rise School in Alabama, and led them to establish The Rise School of Austin in 2003.SpecialtiesThe Rise School of Austin is a non-profit organization providing the highest quality of early childhood education services to children with and without developmental disabilities.
