Cedar Hill Independent School District s Special Education Department offers various learning and extracurricular programs for children with learning disabilities, speech impairment, emotional disturbances, mental retardation, physical disabilities, autism, and multiple disabilities. It offers speech and language therapies that helps students with communication disorders in the areas of language, voice and fluency. Its content mastery program is a supplementary support service for students who remain in the general education classroom for instruction, and receive additional help in order to ensure proper learning of the subjects. It provides instruction in specific content areas, such as reading, English and mathematics. Its vocational adjustment classes are offered at the high school campus for students who require additional support in career and technology education programs. The hospital and homebound arrangement is available to students unable to attend classes due to medical reasons for a minimum of four weeks. The department is based in Cedar Hill, Texas.
