History
Our founder, Cathy Taylor, registered Catz Jazz Feline Rescue, Refuge & Home Placement in 2003 to save lives. Across our nation, across our state, and in our community, due to overbreeding for profit and irresponsible pet ownership, unwanted and abused animals have been apathetically reduced to burdens, forgotten in a society that considers them inessential. Cathy Taylor wanted to do a small part to assist as many unfortunate cats as possible, while advocating the message of compassion towards felines and educating people about responsible pet ownership. Catz Jazz Rescue strives to be one of the best Austin area cat rescue operations by providing comfort, care and compassion for each and every animal coming into our rescue with consideration of their individual situations. Our goal is to find life-long companions for the rescued cats in our care. We only adopt out to individuals who have passed screening. Our mission is simple; the journey is never easy, but it's always worthwhile.
Specialties
Catz Jazz is an all-volunteer 501(C)3 Non-Profit Texas-based companion cat rescue group serving the Austin area established with a mission to provide safety, shelter, veterinary care, medical rehabilitation and socialization for abandoned or abused cats (and sometimes dogs) until good permanent homes can be found for them. We do not maintain a paid staff; our foster, resource and support network are funded exclusively through out-of-pocket contributions and community donations. All of the animals we take in come from hopeless situations, local kill shelters, cruelty cases released from law enforcement or from owner surrenders who no longer want their special needs or older cats. We also help keep feral strays from reproducing on the streets by participating in T-N-R and managed colonies.
