Dr. Carlos Macias is a fellowship-trained thoracic surgeon with special focus in the areas of cardiothoracic and vascular interventions, including heart valve implantation, mechanical circulatory support and cardioversion (low-energy shock). He uses transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and other advanced and minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Macias earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Center in Houston. He completed his general surgery residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas before going on to complete his thoracic surgery fellowship at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
