Brown County Water Improvement District is a political subdivision of the state of Texas, comprising more than 25,000-acres in Brownwood, Texas. Originally created by the Brown County Commissioner's Court in 1926, the district was converted to a Municipal Utility District in 1978 by the Texas Water Commission. It owns and operates Lake Brownwood and tributaries of the Colorado River. BCWID provides water supply for the cities of Brownwood, Early, Bangs, Brookesmith and Santa Anna, Texas. The district offers a wide variety of services, such as water treatment, maintenance and repair of the district's delivery system and facilities and irrigation services. Its administrative services include receiving payments for annual dock permits, sale of irrigation and municipal water and land leases.
