Briggs Ranches, one of the oldest established Santa Gertrudis operations in the country, traces its roots back to 1942 when founder R.W. Briggs Sr. purchased his first Santa Gertrudis bulls from the King Ranch. Through a meticulous upgrading program, the ranch achieved purebred status in 1955 and now maintains between 600 and 800 head of purebred Santa Gertrudis cows, along with a herd of purebred Angus cows and a group of commercial cattle.
Complementing their cattle operations, Briggs Ranches also houses a small group of Quarter Horse broodmares for ranch maintenance and performance horse production. The ranch's commitment to wildlife conservation is evident through the abundance of whitetail deer, quail, dove, javalina, and feral hogs that thrive on the property, offering a diverse and sustainable ranching experience.
