The Bexar County Auditor s Office establishes internal controls, approves claims against the county, countersigns checks and prescribes the system of accounting. The auditor s office also maintains a set of accounting records and examines the accounts of all county and district offices. Its executive division is responsible for the development of accounting policies and procedures and for the documentation and monitoring of financial systems. The Bexar County Auditor s Office maintains an accounting division that is responsible for the general ledger accounting of county transactions. The office s accounting division also reviews and coordinates the calculation of the county's tax rates. Located in San Antonio, the auditor s office additionally operates a special projects division that supervises the implementation of cashiering conversion procedures.
