History
Beacon's is a third-generation family-owned neighborhood store located just a few miles SE of downtown San Antonio. Beacon's philosophy is to provide fashion merchandise at competitive pricing with one-on-one customer service. Beacon's began in 1935 when Alex Abelman peddled merchandise from his bicycle within the Beacon Hill Area of San Antonio, thus the name Beacon's. Upon the demise of Alex in 1944, Alvin Abelman, Alex's son, took the business to the next level by peddling from a van. Beacon's opened a free-standing store in 1962. This location has expanded numerous times. Currently, Beacon's is owned by a third-generation Abelman, Arthur. Special Order merchandise for one's personal sizing or styling. Beacon's offers in-house charge accounts, layaways and gift certificates, besides accepting all major credit cards. Let us treat you to personalized service like you've never experienced. Great service, selection and savings!
