Solid Waste Management Services administers a variety of recycling programs. It is responsible for the collection and disposal of all solid waste materials. The department offers curbside and household appliance recycling solutions. Solid Waste Management Services maintains dropoff centers for the residents of apartment complexes. It also provides recycling services for plastic bottles, jars, newspapers, magazines, automotive batteries, cleaners, adhesives, and aluminum and steel cans. The department organizes various educational activities and public recycling events. In addition, Solid Waste Management Services offers yard waste composition services. It also conducts the Solid Waste Fee Discount program. The department is governed by the City of Memphis in Tennessee.
