Founded in 1930, SESAC is one of the leading performing rights organizations in the United States. The organization is designed to represent songwriters and publishers, and their right to be compensated for having their music performed in public. The organization issues licenses that allow music users, including television and radio stations, auditoriums, restaurants, hotels, theme parks and malls to legally play songs in the SESAC repertory. Its repertory includes various music styles, including hip-hop, dance, rock classics, country hits, contemporary Christian, jazz, and television and film music of Hollywood s composers. The organization is headquartered in Nashville, Tenn., and has offices in New York City, Los Angeles and London.
