The Department of Human Services of the state of Tennessee is the largest public welfare agency in Tennessee. The department provides services for clinical, administrative and program support, as well as compliance access and workplace safety. It maintains various divisions, including adult and family services, appeals and hearings, child support, rehabilitation services, and finance and administration. Additionally, the Department of Human Services operates the Office of General Counsel, which provides legal advice to various programs, legal representation in judicial and administrative litigation and prepares departmental rules and legislations. It also offers services for the visually impaired and disability determination. The Department of Human Services maintains a location in Cookeville, Tenn.
