BIOGRAPHY Dr. Rubright is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon who has additional subspecialty fellowship training in hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, and microvascular surgery. Dr. Rubright specializes in: Surgical and non-surgical care of hand and upper extremity fractures and other sports-related or traumatic injuries. Repair of injuries to skin, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and blood vessels of the upper extremity. Arthroscopic treatment of finger, hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder joint conditions. Upper extremity arthritis management including joint replacement of the finger, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. Surgical and non-surgical care of conditions affecting nerves such as carpal tunnel syndrome or other nerve injuries. Workers' Compensation injury management. Dr. Rubright is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the American Association of Hand Surgeons. As an undergraduate, he studied biology and chemistry at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor of science degree. Dr. Rubright earned his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he developed a particular interest in the anatomy and physiology of the musculoskeletal system. There, he cultivated that interest into a hobby as an orthopaedic medical illustrationist. Since that time, his original anatomical and instructional illustrations have been published in many professional publications. Dr. Rubright completed his general orthopaedic surgery residency training at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont. He then pursued subspecialty fellowship training in hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, and microvascular surgery at Allegheny Hospital and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There he gained extensive experience in state-of-the-art surgical and non-surgical treatment of all upper extremity conditions in adults and children. Dr. Rubright has conducted research and published articles and book chapters on a variety of orthopaedic and upper extremity topics. His contributions have been published in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Essential Orthopaedics, Current Orthopaedic Practice, Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, the Journal of Knee Surgery, the Journal of Hand Surgery, the Journal of Wrist Surgery, and the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, as well as, several American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons publications. Dr. Rubright prides himself on meticulous orthopaedic care and on honest, straight forward communication so that all of his patients have a full understanding of the medical problems they are facing and what to expect moving forward. He believes in a shared decision-making process between the patient and physican, such that each patient can participate in the development of an individual plan of care unique to his or her needs, demands, and lifestyle.
