Clarksville Police Department is responsible for preventing crime, enforcing laws and promoting safety through use of traditional and community policing methods, and problem solving. It operates a citizen police academy that is designed to bring citizens and the police department closer through education. The academy offers a 13-weeks program that includes information on uniformed patroling, special operations, criminal investigations, and youth and criminal laws. It also offers firearm training and a police driving course. The department offers crime stoppers program to help law enforcement officers in apprehending and convicting criminals. Clarksville Police Department has more than 200 police officers, and is located in Clarksville, Tenn.
