Knoxville's Community Development Corporation, also known as KCDC, is a housing and redevelopment agency for Knoxville. Founded in 1936, the agency s projects include office complexes, courthouses, markets and parking garages. It helps to improve and transform neighborhoods and communities by providing housing, advancing development initiatives and fostering self-sufficiency. Knoxville's Community Development Corporation offers a range of premier and conventional properties for families, senior citizens and disabled residents. The agency manages and maintains more than 3,600 rental units throughout Knoxville. It also administers Section 8 housing programs. Knoxville's Community Development Corporation administers the contract for over 2,500 privately-owned dwellings which qualified participants rent from owners who accept federal subsidy as part of the rent.
