Joseph B. Van Pelt Elementary School, opened in 1975, is part of The Bristol Virginia School Division that comprises of four pre-kindergarten through fifth grade elementary schools, one middle school and a high school. All the schools in the division are fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The school has a networked computer lab that provides opportunities for individualized instruction in basic skills as well as keyboarding classes.
