The Cookeville Housing Authority, established in 1952, manages more than 540 public housing units, over 80 section 8 units, as well as nearly 30 elderly units of low-income housing tax credits. Its resident services department provides after-school and summer programs for more than 180 at-risk youths in the areas of Algood, Baxter, Celina, Cookeville, Gainesboro and Monterey, Tenn. The authority also offers homemaker aid services and organizes recreational activities, singing events and social programs for the elderly and disabled public housing residents. The Cookeville Housing Authority employs more than 60 people, including 10 part-time security officers. It is located in Cookeville, Tenn.
