Clarksville Police Department is responsible for preventing crime, enforcing laws and promoting safety through use of traditional and community policing methods, and problem solving. It operates a citizen police academy that is designed to bring citizens and the police department closer through education. The academy offers a 13-weeks program that includes information on uniformed patroling, special operations, criminal investigations, and youth and criminal laws. It also offers firearm training and a police driving course. The department offers crime stoppers program to help law enforcement officers in apprehending and convicting criminals.
