HistorySela's was founded by Sela Smith, a native of Maui, Hawaii. She is a third generation baker who was trained like many: by watching her mother closely. Soon she was baking for the families she worked for as a skills trainer for autism and later as an au pair in Lucerne, Switzerland. Returning to Hawaii, she attended Maui Culinary Academy and began baking pastries and cakes for Wailuku Coffee Co, a well established local cafe on Maui. In 2019 she moved to New York City to expand her love for food and challenge herself. Less than a year later the pandemic hit and she relocated to Nashville, TN. Nashville was instantly a place that felt like a second home and she knew it was time to share her passion for good food with others. Her boyfriend Chava and good friend Kent got together and began developing a plan to launch a delivery-only gourmet baked goods and foodstuffs company.
