History
Bill Gunther started the business in 1996 after retiring from the police department in New York. The business grew and was incorporated in 2005. He became a certified member of ASHI (American Society of Home Inspectors) and was the founder of the Middle Tennessee Chapter of ASHI. He was also active in preparation of the Home Inspection licensing legislation in Tennessee. His strong feelings about the importance of having properly trained professional home inspectors to protect buyers in the process of purchasing a new home led him to teaching. He became an instructor for Kaplan/ITA Professionals and has taught the Home Inspection Course required for aspiring inspectors to become licensed in Tennessee. Tim Gunther worked with his dad as a teen learning carpentry, electrical and inspection skills. After getting his Associates Degree, he worked in construction for two years, then joined BJK. In 2004 became ASHI certified. In 2005 became licensed and has performed over 2000 inspections.
Specialties
BJK's primary goal is to perform an in-depth inspection of a property and then provide our clients with the most comprehensive and detailed multi-page narrative report which includes pictures of defects and areas of concern to enable our clients to make an informed decision about a property. In makes no difference if it is a 600 sq. ft. house in Madison or an 80,000 sq. ft. commercial building in downtown Nashville, we still pay the same attention to detail for each inspection. We perform pre-purchase inspections and pre-sale inspections for existing homes and buildings. We also do In-Progress inspections on new homes and buildings to help correct problems before the job is complete. We also perform speciality inspections for Synthetic Stucco (EIFS), Radon Testing, Mold inspections and air testing.
